Walking the path of forgiveness is not always an easy task but it is one required by God for His children. Feeling that you have been wronged, betrayed, let down, misunderstood, falsely accused, or hurt by another may leave wounds. And these wounds are exactly what the enemy wants to keep us in pain and suffering. He wants to use them to keep us divided.
Watching Erika Kirk address the murder of her husband, Charlie, seemed like a moment in time that stood still. She mustered all of her courage and publicly forgave the man that had taken his life. I watched in awe of this woman, her tragedy so fresh, tears streaming down her face, yet her resolve in Christ so sincere.
She chose love. She chose forgiveness. She chose Christ.
All of us would do well to follow her example.
If there is someone you need to forgive take a step toward forgiveness today. If you are feeling stuck. God showed me something that really helps.
Close your eyes and say a prayer for the person you would like to forgive. Pray for them as you would for yourself. Pray for all the love and goodness you want for your family, your children, the person you love the most.
It is much easier to pray for those we love. Use that love as a springboard into prayer for forgiveness toward another.
